Excursion to Caves of San José, Vall d’Uixò

These caves are considered the longest navigable underground river in Europe since we still do not know its origins or how far it reaches. After years of research, they remain something unique and mysterious.

In the village of Vall d’Uixò is the longest navigable underground river in Europe, it is 3000 meters long, of which we will visit 1 kilometer (850 meters by boat and 250 meters on foot)

For the visit to the Vall d’Uixó, pick-you up at the meeting points in the center of Valencia at about 08:30hours (variable time by Valencia & Go according to the reservations) and we will head north towards Vall de Uixò, to the town of Castellón that where they are located the famous Caves of San José.

After about 45 minutes drive, we will arrive at the gate of the Sierra de Espadan Nature Park (Yes! The caves are one of the entrances to this idyllic place)

To tour these caves, we will board a boat and cruise the longest navigable underground river in Europe accompanied by a boat guide. During the one-hour walk approximately we will see large galleries, ceilings covered with stalactites, and spaces known as “the cathedral” or the “bats room.”

In one stretch we will continue our walking tour (250 meters), while revealing the origins of the caves and their evolution over the years. After enjoying a full day in the Caves of San José and its surroundings, we will return to the hotels of Valencia.

• The cave has a constant temperature of 20º all year round. We advise you to wear comfortable shoes.
• This tour includes pickup and drop-off from Valencia hotels to the locality where the grotto is located, + visit to the cave + an official local guide. The tour does not include meals or drinks.
• The pick-up time is illustrative: we will send a confirmation message 1 day before the excursion with the details of the pick-up points and the exact time.

DURATION:

There is the kayak modality to have an absolute experience inside the cave. In the kayak activity it includes the neoprene, kayak and possibility of bathing in the water as well as discovering a small area that is not compatible with ordinary tourist visits.
