But Halloween in Valencia isn’t just about going out to party. There are plenty of ways to get spooked, have a laugh, discover Valencian traditions and even make the most of the day to explore some of the city’s most impressive historic spots. 

Cult films and Halloween at La Rambleta

One of the most unusual plans this Halloween will be The Rocky Horror Picture Show at La Rambleta.

On 31 October, the film will be screened in its original language with subtitles, accompanied by performers live, and afterwards there’ll be an after-party with karaoke. La Rambleta’s special Halloween programme also includes comedy and a variety of shows during that day.

Valencian-style horror: Aunt Visantica

If you’re looking for something even more local, the Teatro Talía is celebrating Halloween with «Aunt Visantica: A show by«. The show, performed in Valencian, plays precisely on the clash between Halloween and the traditions Valencian All Saints’ Day celebrations, using humour and popular expressions used to talk about things that were also frightening here long before American pumpkins arrived. It must be the 31 October and will last approximately 90 minutes.

Haunted house, dinner and party

For those who are looking for the full Halloween experience, Halloween Horror Show: Project Eclipse will hold sessions on 30 and 31 October. The programme includes a the passage of terror 170 metres long, dinner with shows, performances, competition costume shop and a party with a DJ who keeps the party going until the early hours. Here’s the thing: be prepared for a few surprises. 

And if you want to go beyond the usual plans this Halloween, Terra Mítica it is completely transformed from 3 October to 1 November with special decorations, shows and a much darker atmosphere than usual. 🎃

Long before Halloween became popular, there were already traditions in the Valencian Community associated with the night of 31 October and All Saints’ Day. The so-called All Souls’ Night was dedicated to the memory of the the deceased and even today, some Valencian municipalities are reviving this tradition with parades, chestnuts, roasted pumpkin and traditional events. During this time, sweets also make a return to bakeries and the streets traditional such as buñuelos de viento and huesos de santo, as well as roasted chestnuts and sweet potatoes.
