Setting off from the unspoilt dunes of El Saler and a trip on an electric boat (silent and emission-free) through the largest lake in Spain, among the rice paddies where he was born paella. - Excursion to the Caves of San José
In Vall d’Uixó (Castellón), within easy reach of Valencia: a boat trip along the longest navigable underground river in Europe (850 metres by boat with a guide, 250 metres on foot), featuring formations such as «the cathedral» and «the bat chamber». It is an activity suitable for all ages, and rounds off with views of the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park from an ancient Iberian settlement. One of the excursions that surprises children the most.
- Tabarca Island
Ferry from Santa Pola to the only inhabited island in the Valencian Community: beaches, a walled town, snorkelling and local cuisine. Useful information for families: children under 7 years of age (up to 135 cm) must travel in a child seat on the bus journey, so please state their age and height when booking. You can also extend your stay by the hour or spend the night on the island. Minimum group size: 8 people.
Mild adventure
- Montanejos + Salto de la Novia
A full day out in the countryside: a dip in the natural hot springs from Montanejos (25°C all year round), an easy walking route through the Mediterranean woodland and a visit to the spectacular Salto de la Novia waterfall, in Navajas, where you can also take a dip if it’s hot. A gentle, scenic adventure, perfect for families with children who can walk well.
History and castles that captivate even those who "hate museums"
- The castle and Roman town of Sagunto
Walls stretching for over a kilometre, with Roman, medieval and Arab ruins, Roman theatre and views of the Palancia Valley and the Mediterranean from the top. A 4-hour excursion with transport and an official guide. Outdoors and featuring «ruins to climb» (visually), it usually goes down very well with children who are curious about history.
- Xàtiva and its castle
Second historic centre larger in the Valencian Community and the birthplace of the Borgia popes. The tour takes you up to the castle perched atop the Sierra Vernisa, with more than 3,000 years of history within its walls. Please note: the castle has steps and slopes and is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs, so we recommend wearing comfortable footwear and taking the children’s ages into account before booking.
- Morella and Peñíscola
Full-day excursion to «the two jewels of Castellón»: Morella, a walled town perched on a hilltop with a castle, cloister and basilica, and Peñíscola, with its ‘Papa Luna’ castle overlooking the sea, known for being the filming location of Game of Thrones. Includes a meal at a local restaurant. Minimum group size of 4 people.
