24 hours in Valencia: the essentials

We only have 24 hours in Valencia. What can we do to make sure we don't miss out on anything ✨?

Here we tell you all about it what you have to see if you spend a day in this Mediterranean wonder known as: the healthiest city in the world and the Design Capital 2022.

Read on!

8:30h arrival in the city

WE WILL START THE VISIT FROM XÀTIVA STREET: ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT STREETS OF THE CITY AND WHERE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THE MODERNIST STYLE NORTH STATION AND THE BULLRING OF VALENCIA.

We continue along Av. Marqués de Sotelo towards the Plaza del Ayuntamiento: this is where life happens for the Valencians, where the big fairs, markets and significant events are held.

You can see three important buildings: the Town Hall itself and its huge balcony; the post office building and the Ateneo Mercantil (go upstairs for some of the best views of the square).
We will continue towards the Plaza del Mercado or also called Plaza de las Brujas, full of colour and life, to the right of which winding streets full of shops and bars begin to appear, leading us to the Carmen neighbourhood, but first we will enter the Central Market.

The Central Market, the heart of the city, has the largest number of fresh produce stalls in Europe.

10:00h enjoy an authentic Valencian lunch.

As long as we are in the market, let's try out a typical valencian lunch with the freshest products of the city in Central Bar.

11:00h Valencia must be taken for a walk

This time we will continue to the Silk Exchange, We will continue our journey to the Plaza Redonda and we will see the narrowest façade of the city.

We will reach the renovated Queen's Square and we will already have in front of us the imposing Cathedral of Santa María, where the Holy Chalice is hidden.
We can enter the Cathedral and go up to the Miguelete, 207 steps up a beautiful spiral staircase that gives you a panoramic view of the city.

We will go out to the Plaza de la Virgen, with a mixture of pastel tones and medieval aesthetics, it will seem as if we have just been transported back in time.
We will continue to the Serranos Towers, The old city wall.

*extra: if you want to before lunch, visit the wonderful Valencian Sistine Chapel

14:30h it's time to eat a good rice

Very close to the Towers, you will find the restaurant La Cigrona, award-winning rice dishes!

16:30h relax in the Turia Gardens

After a good Valencian-style meal, it's time to continue our route.
The best way to bring lunch down and enjoy the afternoon is to take a stroll along the Turia Gardens (the old bed of the Turia river, now a park that divides the city in two) until you reach the City of Arts and Sciences. (you can also do it by bike or segway).

17:15h the City of Arts and Sciences

Visit the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences from the outside.

19:00h evening and views from Barceló

Just a few metres away from the Turia Gardens, you will find the hotel Barceló which has one of the most spectacular terraces to watch the sunset and have a cocktail of the whole city.

20:00h back to the centre, Ruzafa

To finish our day, we cannot miss the picturesque Ruzafa districtwith its colourful houses, its great gastronomic offer and its lively and youthful atmosphere.

Dinner and tapas: Bitter Love (a cinema winery), The Trench (informal tapas with supreme quality) or Canalla Bistró (restaurant of the great chef Ricard Camarena)

23:00h night falls in Ruzafa

To enjoy good music and a great atmosphere after dinner not to be missed:

-Comic (drinks and good atmosphere)
-Ubik (live music, bar-bookshop)
-Loco Club (discotheque with live performances)
-Café Mercedes Jazz (live jazz)

End of the day

And this would be the most complete itinerary to get to know the city of the Turia in a very quick way: discovering the charms of the old town with the contrast of the City of Arts and Sciences and breathing fresh air in the lungs of the city, the Turia Gardens.
