The Serranos Towers, one of the two medieval gates that remain in Valencia, together with the Quart Towers. They were erected as symbol of prosperity and commercial expansion of the city in the 14th century.

Where it all begins: the Serranos Towers of Valencia
The Serranos Towers are one of the twelve doors which formed part of the medieval walls of Valencia. Built in the 14th century, These defensive towers are exceptionally well preserved and offer a unique breathtaking view from its battlements, from which you can see both the old town and the Turia Gardens.
Throughout the years, the towers have been used as a noble prisons and a symbol of defence. Today, they are a visible reminder of Valencia's medieval past and an excellent place to start your tour of the city as they lead directly into the Barrio del Carmen, Valencia's oldest quarter.
