Valencian Culture and Traditions, What do to

Valencia’s Musical Soul: Tradition, Talent, and the New FAR Festival

Valencia is a city that doesn’t just live—it resonates. Its connection to music goes beyond mere entertainment; it’s an integral part of its identity, education, community, and heritage. In the 21st century, this passion is being revitalized through new platforms like the FAR Festival, a cultural initiative set to make the city vibrate this summer.

A City Where Music Is in Its DNA

The Valencian Community boasts the highest number of musical societies per capita in Europe. Almost every town has at least one band, a music school, and a calendar filled with rehearsals, concerts, and festivals.

With over 40,000 active musicians and more than 550 musical societies, music permeates every street, celebration, and generation. Here, playing an instrument is as common as playing football.

From the Fallas to pilgrimages, and from contemporary music festivals to opera cycles, Valencia breathes musical culture in every corner.

A Cultural Network with Social Impact

In Valencia, music is not just an artistic expression but a driving force for social cohesion. Bands serve as intergenerational inclusive spaces, energize neighborhoods, and help preserve traditions while exploring new forms of creation.

This robust cultural structure has also given rise to high-quality and diverse festivals, ranging from jazz and classical to rock, pop, electronic, and alternative music.
