What to do if I come to Valencia in summer? If you are going to visit Valencia during these months, here are the best tips from a Valencian woman:
1.- Protect yourself from the sun
Valencia can be very hot during the summer, so make sure you bring sunscreen, hat and light, breathable clothing. It is also important to stay hydrated by drinking enough water.
2.- Swim at the best beaches
Valencia has beautiful beaches, such as the Malvarrosa beach or the Patacona beach. Take advantage of the good weather to relax, sunbathe and enjoy the Mediterranean Sea. There are also many chiringuitos (beach bars) where you can eat cheaply just a stone's throw from the sea.
🔸We recommend that you go to the Patacona beach, as it is less crowded, the water is cleaner and it has a beach bar which is our favourite: the Chiringuito on 8
3.- Explore the City of Arts and Sciences
This architectural complex is one of the Valencia's main attractions. It includes the Oceanogràfic, the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum and the Hemisfèric. Take time to visit these impressive structures and enjoy their exhibits.
During the month of July free events are held in the CaixaForum building, the ancient Agora.

The Barrio del Carmen is Valencia's old town and offers a charming maze of narrow streets and picturesque squares. Explore its shops, bars and restaurants, and don't miss Valencia Cathedral, where the Holy Chalice is said to be housed, and the Lonja de la Seda, a Gothic masterpiece.

5.- Try Valencian paella, but well made.
Valencia is the birthplace of paella, so you can't leave without trying this delicious dish. Find a traditional restaurant and enjoy an authentic Valencian paella, prepared with rice, chicken, rabbit and other fresh ingredients and cooked over a wood fire.
